How Computers Have Changed Our Lives

Recently, a radio station announced that the high school graduates of 2011 would not know of a life without computers. They grew with computers in the home, in schools, and in library. And what is more, they grew up with computers that were used more more than just typing and spreadsheets. Computers have changed out lives in so many ways it is hard to imagine our lives without them.

Computers have made it possible for people to communicate without using the phone. Rather than pick up the phone and call someone you can send emails. The idea for email was originally constructed to make the transfer of documents between employees easier and quicker. Now, people communicate through emails on a daily basis. Not only can people communicate but also study through online colleges with the help of computer and internet. People can send designs, pictures, videos, virtually anything over email.

Computers have made the process of research so much easier. Ask any high school or college student when they last opened up a book for research and they probably cannot remember. As library journals, encyclopedias, and other research sites are now online the way that people research has changed to be being done nearly entirely online.

Computers have also made it possible for sites like myspace and facebook to come into fruition. A few years ago being able to communicate with everyone you know in a the blink of the eye would have been unheard on. Now, millions of people log onto facebook everyday to see the latest updates from all their friends. Sites like this have caused people to get recognized, companies to spread word about their business and long lost friends are able to reconnect over the internet. And all of this is possible because of the computer.
